Chuckwallas are part of the iguana family (iguanid). There are five species of chuckwalla that can be found throghout the deserts of southern California, southern Nevada, southwestern Utah, western Arizona, Sonora, and Baja California. When threatened chuckwallas will run between rocks and puff themselves up so they get stuck there, so predators can't pull them out.
