The beaver is the largest rodent in North America and they have big buck teeth that are orange. Their teeth are very strong and they are able to cut through trees. Beavers are able to transform less suitable habitats into ponds or wetlands by building dams. Beavers are monogamous and their babies are called kits. Beaver fur is thick and waterproof to keep them from getting cold. They use their tail to pad down mud on their dams or to help swim around in the water. They will also slap the top of the water to warn others if there is danger nearby.
