Day 67 Toucan

There are over forty species of toucan and they are known for their enormous bills. They have the largest bill comparison to body size than any other bird. Their bill is helpful to keep them cool in the hot rainforest. Arteries in their bill expand when they get too hot which then releases heat. Toucans are not good at flying, but will instead spend much of their time in the trees hopping from tree branch to three branch. They will also use their long beak to pluck fruit from trees. The one shown is the toco toucan which is the largest of all toucans and their beak is about 8 inches long.
