Day 66: Gila Monster

Gila monsters live out in the deserts on southwestern United States. Gila monsters do not have hollow fangs, like snakes, for injecting venom. Instead they have grooved teeth and when they bite with their powerful jaws they chew the venom in through capillary action along the grooves of the teeth. Their venom is as potent at a diamondback rattlesnake's, but only a little is introduced in a gila monster bite. The bumps on a gila monster's head is part of it's skull.
