Day 63: Arctic Skua

The Arctic skua is sometimes referred to as avian pirates, for good reason. They are an aggressive seabird that steal most of their meals from terns, puffins and other birds with fish. They steal by striking midair and force their victim to drop the prize mid flight. They will sometimes team up in a fight and chase their victims relentlessly. The Arctic skua lives most of its live at sea and will come to land to breed during the summer.
