There are about 5,000 species of dragonflies and they are amazing predators. Adult dragonflies are excellent at capuring prey about 95% of the time. Their amazing vision helps them to capture prey. They nearly have 360° of vision with their huge eyes. Each compound eye contains as many as 30,000 lenses, called ommatidia. They are able to detect movement of other insects and avoid collisions this way. Dragonflies catch their prey by grabbing it with their feet.
