Day 53: Ostrich
The world's largest bird is the ostrich,so it's no surprise that their eggs are also huge. One ostrich egg weighs as much as two dozen chicken eggs! They are also very fast; they can sprint around 40mph over short distances and on average 30mph over long distances. As defense they have powerful legs that can kick to cause serious damage to predators. Ostriches can be found in the African savanah eating plants, roots, seed as well as lizards and insects. They typically live in herds that have less than a dozen birds.
