Everyone knows that pandas eat bamboo. What is interesting though is that they spend about 12 hours a day eating it some other resources say even 16 hours a day! They spend all day eating a food that is not at all nutritious that they have to eat up to 20 kg of bamboo a day. They use their teeth to peel at the outside of the stalk to get to the soft tissue. Pandas have adapted to eating bamboo. They have an extra little digit on their paw to help them grasp onto the bamboo. They also have the largest molar teeth of any carnivore which is used to crush and slice their food. Pandas rarely ever eat meat and they have the digestive system to consume it, however they have lost the ability to enjoy the taste of meat.
