Day 26: Humming Bird

There are 320 different species of hummingbird found throughout the Americas. The one shown is the ruby-throated hummingbird. Their English names derives from the characteristic hum made by their rapid wing beats. Hummingbirds can fly backwards and are the only group of birds able to do so. They have tiny feet that are only used for perching on tree branches; they cannot walk or hop. The hummingbird needs to eat twice its bodyweight in food every day, and to do so they mush visit hundreds of flowers daily.
