Honey bees are efficient workers; they produces 2-3 times more honey than they need. Honeybees are also responsible for pollinating approx 80% of all fruit, vegetable and seed crops in the U.S. There are three different types of honey bee the queen, drone and worker. The queen will lay 600-800 eggs a day sometimes even more during her 3-4 year life span. If the queen bee dies, workers will create a new queen by selecting a young larva and feeding it a special food called 'royal jelly'. This enables the larva to develop into a fertile queen. They are also great flyers; they can fly at a speed around 25km per hour and they can beat their wings more than 200 times per second.
